I'm actually kind of on the fence about MAPS3. I think the proposal has alot of great ideas, but I have some major concerns, mostly the light rail system, and the budget for providing for more security for this "central park" like park that they want to build. I'm all for improving downtown okc, but I think it may be a little too much. My mind is still open.

[...] I wrote about it the other day, but the revitalization of downtown Oklahoma City via the Core to Shore projects and MAPS3 are very, very exciting examples of urban renewal in a city that, for too long, has been defined more by life in its suburbs than in its heart. Flying over OKC recently on a flight to Kansas City, I got my first good look at where the city’s development is heading geographically, and it thrilled me to no end. This plaque is on the Fred Jones Building I wrote about last week; I was down there recently and got to walk around Main Street and the new Film Row district taking some pictures. This is one of my favorites. Daily Photo, Oklahoma [...]

As an OCU Law alum, I really love the idea of moving the school to the Fred Jones building. However, I really do not like conditioning it on passage of Maps 3. A street rail system to get students to county courthouse or jail? No, absolutely not necessary. Adequate parking for the law school? Now that, THAT is a necessity.
