I stayed at home to watch the Inauguration this morning, and I cried like a baby almost the entire way through it. The only thing I didn’t love was the Inaugural poem; so, I offer you this, which rings even more true, more urgent and relevant, today, than it did when it was given in January 1993. Also, there’s a shout out to my alma mater at the beginning, and I once had a class taught by this lady. Mostly, though, I find these words a stunningly accurate picture of what today means and how I, and most people I know, feel:

Thank you for sharing this, Nathan… That poem always gives me a chill. And being able to read it on stage for her class will be a memory I’ll always carry with me.
