Which is why it was such a shock to find her crawling under my desk and trembling against my legs when the men came to do some roof repairs. Goldie was terrified of cats, or maybe just my niece's cat. When we visited her new apartment, Goldie took one look at the cat and ran and hid in the bathtub. She also cowered whenever it thundered, and the Fourth of July turned her into a quivering bowl of jelly, poor thing. Tasha would take on anything and anybody.
