The other story I had about him that I almost told instead of this one was: When I ran for senior class president, it got down to me and one other guy in a runoff. Sam walked up to me and said, "Well, I voted for you the first time, but not the second time, because I believe in being fair." I looked at him and said, "Promise me you will never vote in a for-real election when you turn 18." Yeah, I feel I should make a public statement that my dog is in no way named after this guy.
