Last night I heard an advertisement for the radio show I am on. Our first installment is on Sunday at noon. I am stoked and frightened beyond belief. Today at our staff meeting they played each of our pieces, and for the most part, everyone liked mine. I really like Patty’s, but she seemed discouraged. I want you all to listen to it, not for me - for Patty. This Sunday at noon (Central Time) log on to KGOU.org - or, if you are in the Oklahoma City/Norman/Spencer area, tune in to 106.3 FM or 107.5 FM, and listen to Patty’s compelling piece on breast cancer. (And mine on the philosophy of bullshit).
We close on the house tomorrow. I cannot believe it. I hope you all looked at the pictures.
Brian is feeling better. He’s had mono (or something rather like it) for a week, and, while he does not get to do anything big during the move, it is just good to hear his normal-sounding voice again, and see him up and about occasionally.
I have been having great conversations with absentee friends. Last week I talked to Summer on the phone for about 4 hours. Tonight I logged a solid half-hour with Eric. Last weekend I got a good two hours with Tish. We talked about Serenity, about which she, her husband, and I (and countless others) are completely stoked. Joss Whedon deserved to have this movie made. Everyone go see it.
Valerie, my sister, and Tom, her husband, escaped New Orleans ahead of Katrina. They fled to my other sister’s house in Beaumont, Texas, which was then hit by Rita. Hurricanes are mean.
Tom DeLay got indicted. This makes me more excited than it ought to.
I felt like I knew what I was doing in Video Production this morning, and before that, I finished my piece on the music department for KGOU on time - early even! For the first time all semester, I felt like someone who had his act together. It is good to feel this way occasionally.
Patty’s son is going to Iraq. She cried in the lab today. I hate this war.
